This may a pre-authorization fee. A pre-authorization fee is a temporary charge placed on your payment card (debit or credit card) to ensure there are sufficient funds available in your card to cover the cost of the charging session. Pre-authorization fees are always funded back to your card, after the payment for the charging session is successfully processed. The duration of the hold is dependent on your card provider; it might take a few days for the refund to be reflected on your card statement.
For members: If you use the EVCS app to initiate a Pay As You Go charging session (i.e. you are a registered user with EVCS and have a card saved on file), the pre-authorization fee is $30 per charging session. If you have a Subscription Plan with EVCS, there are no pre-authorization fees.
For non-members: If you don’t use the EVCS app to initiate a charging session from your EVCS account (i.e. you use the card reader machine on the charger, or you scan the QR code on the charger with your phone camera), the pre-authorization fee will range between $30 and $50 per charging session. Unfortunately in this case, EVCS has limited control over that fee because it is dependent on the card processing vendor.
To minimize the pre-authorization fees, we encourage you to sign up and become an EVCS member. You can do so by visiting
evcs.com/account or directly on the
EVCS app. Becoming a member is completely FREE.
If the pre-authorization fee is not refunded to your account within 14 calendar days, please feel free to contact
Customer Support, and we would be happy to assist you.
