Top 10 Reasons Why Electric is Better than Gas

Shockingly, a debate continues to rage on what form of mobility is “better” – electric or gasoline power. Perhaps we’re a little partisan, but the answer seems obvious in so many ways and for so many reasons. So, without further ado, here are our top 10 reasons why electric is better than gas.

1) Gas prices are so high, drivers are taking out second mortgages to get to work!

Okay, that might be a slight exaggeration. But with AAA reporting a national average gas price of $3.78 as of this writing, it means a Toyota Camry costs over $60 to fill up while a Tesla Model S can be fully charged for just $10.59. California’s average gas price of $5.71 makes this difference even more stark.

2) Headline: “Polar bears vote unanimously in favor of clean air vehicles as ice caps continue to melt.”

Fact checkers will point out that no such vote actually took place. True, but if bears could vote, this would be the outcome. Sea ice in the Arctic is declining by 10% every decade thanks to rising emissions. And according to the WHO, tailpipe emissions account for 25% of all greenhouse gases in the US. 

3) Let’s face it, nobody’s pouring billions of dollars into innovating gasoline-powered cars.

Nearly all investment in automotive innovation is occurring in the electric space. Not only is every major carmaker introducing new BEVs, but many, including Cadillac and Volvo, are pledging to go all-electric by 2030. And companies like EVCS are pioneering radical new ideas like subscription charging plans!

4) Your can binge-watch the new season of The Mandalorian while your car refuels!

What’s more convenient than simply charging your car at home while you eat, sleep or spend time with family? Charge it just like you would your cell phone. No more annoying, before-work trips to the gas station after you realize your tank’s empty. And if you do need a public charger, EVCS has you covered.

5) Electric cars are safer than a padded room full of stuffed animals.

While there’s no scientific data to back up that assertion, the AFDC does conclude that BEVs have lower centers of gravity than ICE vehicles, making them more stable and less likely to roll over. Also, new EVs often have the most advanced safety features and lack those highly flammable fuels that power ICEs.

6) Maintenance costs on traditional vehicles have led to a mass hair-pulling pandemic.

Fine, while frustration with maintenance costs is not literally causing balding, let’s admit it’s expensive to keep up a car. Well, a SolarReviews consumer report found that such costs are 40% lower on EVs than ICE vehicles because they have fewer moving parts and therefore less possible points of failure.

7) EVs would leave traditional vehicles in a cloud of exhaust (If there was any.)

The performance of even lower-end EVs is far superior to that of their combustion counterparts, thanks to instant pedal responsiveness, regenerative braking, powerful torque and superfast acceleration. In fact, going 0 to 60, a new Nissan Leaf is only 0.9 seconds slower than a 2021 Camaro!

8) Charging options are becoming more abundant than felines at a catnip convention.

How so? Level 1, 2 and 3 chargers offer drivers a choice in speed and affordability. In addition, EVCS has installed Level 2 and 3 chargers at hundreds of public and semi-private locations across the West Coast that work with every kind of EV on the road, all while the number of gas stations continues to decline.

9) EVs are so quiet, you can hear an ant cry.

Yup, you heard that right. Ants can cry. (On the inside.) Also, EVs lack the traditional transmission, exhaust and combustion systems that cause loud vibrations and engine noise. So, the simple act of listening to music or having a conversation while driving becomes all the more enjoyable.

10) Government subsidies! 

The government is pouring tons of money into the EV revolution, from tax credits on EV purchases to shoring up power grids to funding the installation of chargers nationwide. In fact, the new Infrastructure Law invested $7.5 billion into the creation of a national network, which EVCS is already helping to build!
