Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day!

We are proud to join in on the celebration by sharing our vision and progress toward accelerating the transition to clean, carbon-free transportation.

Since our founding in 2018, EVCS’ mission has always been to make public EV charging simpler, faster, more convenient, and more affordable. This mission has not changed as we continue striving to lower  the total cost of EV ownership and lower the barrier to entry for customers considering going electric.

We are excited to share that to date, the EVCS network has delivered electricity to customer EVs equivalent to 17.1 million electric miles driven, 410,000 gallons of gas saved, over 45,000 trees planted, and over 8 million lbs. of CO2 prevented. With that many electric miles driven, you could drive around the world 686 times!

Much of this progress is a credit to the continued expansion of our West Coast network, where we most recently commissioned 12 locations across Washington State as part of the West Coast Electric Highway upgrades.

Our plan to double our network footprint by the end of the year remains unchanged as we aim to more than double our footprint to over 1,500 chargers and extend our services to 35 new cities along the West Coast. Recognizing the need to get you back on the road quickly, we will also be introducing our first wave of ultra-fast (150 kWh and 350 kWh) charging starting in Q3 of this year.

We are also making significant investments to enhance the reliability of our network. Starting in 2022, we placed orders surpassing 800 DC fast chargers with our partner Tritium, a leading supplier of advanced EV charging equipment assembled in the U.S. Earlier this year we kicked off a program to replace older, less reliable DC fast chargers with newer and faster Tritium equipment, improving uptime performance and charging success rate for EVCS customers. You can also expect to see the latest Tritium hardware deployed to over 35 new locations coming online across our West Coast network throughout 2023 and into 2024.

In addition to updating our equipment, we've also made significant technology investments, upgrading our ability to detect, diagnose, and remotely resolve charger performance issues in real time across our network. And we continue to build out our field technician team, enhancing our ability to both proactively identify and address potential issues and decrease our response time to customer reported issues. As always, please reach out to us for any support issue, either via our 24/7 phone support at 1-866-300-3827 or online at support.evcs.com.

This Earth Day, we reiterate our commitment not only to sustainability, but to continued network expansion and reliability. The goal is and will always be to provide simpler, faster, and more affordable EV charging for all. We are proud of the progress we have made thus far and continue to be excited about what’s to come.

Happy Earth Day,
The EVCS Team

Top 10 Reasons Why Electric is Better than Gas

Shockingly, a debate continues to rage on what form of mobility is “better” – electric or gasoline power. Perhaps we’re a little partisan, but the answer seems obvious in so many ways and for so many reasons. So, without further ado, here are our top 10 reasons why electric is better than gas.

How EVCS is Addressing the Surging Demand for EVs

The EV world has much to celebrate this year. It seems we’ve reached a turning point. While the overall number of new vehicles sold in America between Q2 2021 and Q2 2022 slumped by 20%, EV sales during that same period jumped over 66%, according to figures released by Cox Automotive. This comes on the heels of a larger global trend, with worldwide EV shipments up 79% year over year.

The Race to Democratize Charging Infrastructure

According to McKinsey & Company, “As the number of EVs on the road increases, annual demand for electricity to charge them would surge from 11 billion kWh now to 230 billion kWh in 2030… Modeling indicates that nearly 30 million chargers would be needed to deliver so much electricity in that year. While most of these chargers would be installed at residences, 1.2 million would [need to] be public chargers.” More importantly, these public chargers must be targeted to drivers of all ages, genders, races, cultures, income levels and geographic segments. As such, EVCS has identified three primary areas necessary to increasing the democratization of charging infrastructure:

Navigating California’s New EV Mandate

California’s going all in on electric. On August 25th, Governor Gavin Newsom made a very important announcement concerning the future of transportation in the Golden State: “We can solve this climate crisis if we focus on the big, bold steps necessary to cut pollution. California now has a groundbreaking, world-leading plan to achieve 100 percent zero-emission vehicle sales by 2035.” Big and bold, indeed. And while highly encouraging, it brings up a number of questions moving forward.
