Is Policy Action Alone Enough to Reach Net Zero by 2050?

July 19, 2021 8:03 pm

Recently, BloombergNEF published a telling article titled, “Electric Vehicle Sales Set to Rise Faster Than Ever, but More Policy Action Needed to Get on Track for Net Zero.” The author raises many interesting observations about where we are now in the transition to electric mobility; where we’re projected to be in 10, 20 and even 30 years based on current trajectories; and what we need to do if we’re going to be net zero by 2050. In short, the driving theme of the article seems to be that further government policies will be required to spur innovation, adoption and acceptance of EV technology. And while we certainly agree that this is a crucial factor, it fails to highlight the equal... Read More

One of the most common criticisms foisted on the electric mobility industry is that EVs are not technically carbon neutral since the electricity needed to power them is generated through fossil fuels, including coal and natural gas. This argument is not without merit and presents those of us in the EV infrastructure sector with yet another lofty goal – true carbon neutrality through electrical grids powered by renewable energy sources like wind and solar. And our most recent press release discusses how we at EVCS are doing just that. ARCADIA, Calif., April 22, 2021 (Newswire.com) EVCS, one of the largest fast charger operators on the West Coast, proudly announced today it has contracted 100% renewable energy to power its entire... GREEN Act Delivers for EV Enthusiasts

February 24, 2021 5:28 pm

The Biden Administration and fellow Democrats in Congress continue to lead the green energy charge, which is creating resounding benefits for the EV industry as a whole. The latest is the aptly named Growing Renewable Energy and Efficiency Now, or GREEN, Act (you gotta love those clever acronyms!) sponsored by Representative Mike Thompson (D-CA-5). Earlier this month, the House Ways and Means Committee introduced the bill as a way to advance an agenda centered on achieving greater levels of sustainability, and we were pleased to see several provisions included that would further encourage EV adoption. In particular, EV buyers would be able to tap a $7,500 federal tax credit, while the credit cap for EV manufacturers would be increased to... Read More
